What HHD Does

Curricula and Training Materials

Education and training materials are essential tools for teaching and learning. HHD’s rich resource materials and carefully crafted participatory activities provide young people and adults with transformative experiences that may change their perspectives or worldviews, equip them with skills and competencies to perform new roles or adopt healthy behaviors and environments, enable them to empathize with and share feelings and experiences with others worldwide who face similar challenges, and explore paths to solve complex problems.

HHD has been recognized for its many award-winning curricula, education resources, and training materials that are rooted in research and customized for the developmental stage, life experience, and cultural conditions of the learner. Our products are developed in a variety of formats that range from traditional print products to video and other media; they are increasingly delivered through credentialed, Web-based courses with video and audio components. They accommodate organizations with limited or ample resources, reaching a broad range of audiences for many different purposes.

We design learning activities around the exploration of profound questions, encouraging people to pursue their own answers, a method that has been used at our organization since its earliest years. The curricula and educational activities engage participants actively in the exploration and problem-solving processes, encouraging them to apply their own life experiences to analyze case studies, brainstorm strategies, and invent new and creative solutions.

The materials we develop are often designed to bring people together across disciplines and sectors, enabling them to gain a shared paradigm, language, and way of working together on complex issues. Cooperative group work and ongoing coaching and peer learning activities make it possible to master new skills in an atmosphere of support and experimentation and to practice and retain what has been learned long after participation in specific courses or training events.
