Building Partnerships for Children’s Well-Being
As the primary operational partner of the Universal Education Foundation (UEF), HHD is co-creating UEF’s program to transform the learning environments of youth (their schools, the media, and technology) to make them more conducive to children’s well-being. This is done by inspiring and engaging people to listen more to children and young people.
An important component of this program is the Voice of Children toolkit. It uses a survey and focus groups to capture teenagers’ feelings about how their learning environments affect all facets of their well-being: physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Youth are engaged throughout the process, using the survey results as they participate in dialogue with decision-makers about how to create positive changes in their schools and other learning environments.
Since 2006, UEF has hosted international conferences and events to work closely with members of the European Foundation Centre on this global movement for Education by All for the Well-Being of Children, which promotes the holistic development of children as a responsibility of society as a whole. In Berlin in 2008, UEF, the Bertelsmann Foundation, and HHD convened foundations from Europe and Arabia to address how they can work together to advance Education by All for the Well-Being of Children.
