About HHD's work in Africa

Strengthening Cancer Control Efforts

HHD has partnered with the American Cancer Society and non-governmental organizations in Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania to strengthen cancer control efforts in each country, including survivor support, prevention and detection, and tobacco control. HHD’s role is to facilitate action planning, design capacity-building activities, and advise on data collection protocols. Through this project, HHD and its partners aim to better understand public perceptions of cancer; strengthen tobacco prevention measures; advocate for a comprehensive government response to cancer, from prevention to treatment; and improve the media’s coverage of cancer.
