Strengthening Cancer Control Efforts Worldwide

In an effort to fight cancer worldwide, HHD is working with the American Cancer Society to provide the assessment and training materials that enable local community-based organizations to offer comprehensive cancer control programs. In such locations as Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania, staff gain the knowledge and skills to launch and manage prevention, detection, and palliative care programs.

The training and materials also build the capacity of these organizations to collect data and to advocate for a comprehensive government response to cancer—from prevention to treatment—and for greater media coverage of this important health issue.
