Mental Health Promotion on College Campuses

Mental health issues can prevent students from getting the most out of their college experiences; if left untreated, they may interfere with students’ functioning even after they graduate from college and enter the workforce. Partnering with and funded by The Jed Foundation, HHD developed a Campus Mental Health Action Planning webinar series to provide college and university administrators and clinical staff with the knowledge and skills needed to better understand the mental health problems affecting their community and to determine appropriate responses.

The program features four 90-minute, Web-based events designed and sequenced to assist campuses in four areas: building momentum to address student mental health and wellness; identifying and prioritizing campus-specific problems; selecting and implementing programs, policies, and services; and conducting a process and outcome evaluation. Webinars are being offered during the 2008–2009 school year.
