Diane Barry
HHD Director of Communications
Diane Barry has served as HHD’s Communications Director since 1998. She has extensive experience in health communications, particularly in developing communications strategies, managing communications projects, utilizing distribution channels, creating and disseminating products, and conducting media outreach. Over the last 10 years she has overseen HHD’s market research and outreach efforts, conceptualized communications and media outreach strategies, developed strategies for knowledge transfer, provided technical assistance, designed and marketed websites and resources, and led collaborations with and trainings for community-based organizations funded by state and federal agencies. She works with many community organizations, foundations, and government agencies to strengthen their communications planning and implementation in social marketing, media relations, and outreach to diverse audiences.
In addition, Ms. Barry is Project Director for the MetroWest Youth Substance Abuse Initiative, which brings evidence-based strategies to 10 Massachusetts communities working to prevent and reduce youth substance use.
For 15 years prior to joining EDC, Ms. Barry served as Communications Director to two national resource centers funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation—Join Together, at Boston University School of Public Health, and the Program on Chronic Mental Illness, at Harvard Medical School.
Ms. Barry holds an M.S. in Communications from Boston University and a B.A. from Boston College.
